Vonachen Services Inc Receives National Community Service Award
Recognized for volunteer efforts with charities and organizations within the community
Peoria, IL | November 16, 2016 – Vonachen Services, Inc (VSI) was recently recognized for its commitment to community involvement, receiving the Arthur C. Barraclough Company Community Service Award at the 2016 Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) annual conference. This award recognizes companies for their volunteer efforts with charities and within their community. In addition to the award, BSCAI will make a cash donation on behalf of VSI to Children’s Home, a Peoria-based organization providing counseling, education and support to more than 1,700 children and families each month.
“We are truly honored to have been recognized for our work within the community. This award speaks volumes about the level of commitment all our team members have made in ensuring a better tomorrow,” said Matt Vonachen, President, Vonachen Services, Inc. This initiative started with our founder Jay Vonachen who believed in doing the right thing by giving back to the community and helping others. As a team, we are committed at every level to carrying on Jay’s core value of being a socially responsible organization.”
VSI was recognized for its support of nearly 60 different agencies and organizations including W.D. Boyce Council of The Boy Scouts of America, Bradley University, Unity Point Methodist/Proctor, Easter Seals, Peoria Riverfront Museum, OSF Healthcare and Heart of Illinois United Way. Of note was the acknowledgement of Jay Vonachen’s involvement in the founding of Career Link, formerly the Work Force Development program, in Peoria Il. This program was developed to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the community by linking individuals with employment opportunities through training and services.
“Of all the organizations and projects we have been involved in, we are most proud of our VSI Santa program,” said Vonachen. “Through employee donations matched by the company, children of VSI hourly employees receive Christmas gifts specifically purchased for them. It’s our belief that our hourly employees should not have the worry of affording gifts for their children at Christmas. It provides all employees a chance to experience the gift of giving to others, specifically their co-workers.”
